Oscilloscope and the Cloud Droplet Probe (CDP)

Overview and Objectives
The department's Oscilloscope was used to illustrate the electric (voltage) peaks from droplets scattering light. The Cloud Droplet Probe was powered up and droplets generated using a humidifier. The Sizer Channel was sampled on channel #1 (Yellow) and the Qualifier Channel was sampled on channel #2 (blue). The grounding cables were connected to the side of the electric box. Before the voltage could be sample correctly on both channels, the Oscilloscope had to be calibrated in the Spring of 2024 since it was not calibrate since the Oscilloscope was purchased. The size range was set at 200 mv for each channel, with an offset between the channels. The trigger was 400 us and 2.5 Ms/s, 256 mv, slope of _/- low-raise-high., coupling of DC, Type Edge, Auto. The Select Find and Run/stop buttons were selected.
